This picture is obviously for those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. For anyone else, it will come across as foolishness. When you have finally reached the point of acceptance, scripture tells us that something truly miraculous happens within believers whether it is outwardly present in the beginning or not. We are born again, not physically, but spiritually and we have a new identity.
This new identity is communicated in Scripture and the picture I have created helps us group some of the core messages into categories. Each of these categories provides verses that speak to our new identity in that area. When the bible speaks of renewing your mind it is talking about us beginning to think differently, not in the way we had thought previously but in new ways. The scripture in this picture speaks to how God sees us after we have believed in Jesus – His birth, death an resurrection.
Honestly, it is hard to replace our old thoughts with these new ones, but as you seek to better know God, He will enable you to do just that. As He meets you in those difficult places and as you rely on the reality of scripture rather than your own thinking, you will continue to think more of the new thoughts than the old.
This new reality includes what it means for us to be:
– Redeemed by Christ
– Adopted into God’s family
– Given a Spirit of Peace
– Given Precious Gifts
– Given Purpose
And, many others explaining who you are now and what you can do…
The key is that we don’t forget. That is why the picture has the words “Remember who you are in Christ” very large at the top. Everyday we need to be reminded of our new life – the precious gift we’ve received and the new truths that form our new reality.
May God bless you on your journey…
