Chaos & Confusion – This is one of the first pictures I created and even as I look at it now many years later it reminds me of how I spent so much of my life. If you are in search of answers to life’s most significant questions and deep down you feel restless because you haven’t found them, don’t be discouraged. It might not feel very comforting for me to tell you that, but if you stopped being motivated to find the answers, then I would be discouraged. Please don’t shut out that whisper inside that is motivating you to press on… that whisper may be leading you to the answers you seek.
We were all born somewhere on earth at some specific time and place and with people we did not chose. The circumstances and surroundings are countless. Poverty, wealth, war, peace, music, art, hunger, cold, yelling, beatings, crying, despair, joy, love and happiness only touch on some of what you may have experienced. At some point we began to ask why? Why am I here? What’s the point? Why all the suffering? Why did this or that happen to me or someone close to me? And we search and we’re given many different answers. I searched for more than 35 years and rejected early on the person that had the answers for which I had been desperately seeking.
There is something bigger, something more, and something greater – the tagline for my picture is there because it is the answer that I found at the end of my search. Above the chaos and confusion in my picture, you will see larger pictures of things in our universe that did not just randomly appear and are simply beyond our comprehension. The beauty and majesty of what surrounds us points us toward the answers to our questions. I am no longer searching. I have found rest not in a religion, but in a person, Jesus, whom I rejected for so many years. You don’t have to take a leap of faith to believe. Find out for yourself if Jesus is who He said He was. Use the mind you’ve been given, but also realize that you are much more than your mind and don’t be surprised if while you’re searching with your mind He does not capture your heart.
